In the 1950s and 60s, the Soviet Union took an active interest in a number of unusual discoveries in Egypt. Interpretations of some of the ancient symbols, led some to believe the remains of an alien lifeform was hidden in undiscovered tombs.
Project ISIS which has no relationship whatsoever to the current day terrorist nightmare "The Islamic State". It was a clandestine Russian [Soviet] project of the early 1960s. Speculation and circumstantial evidence seem to indicate its purpose was to obtain alien technology and documentation.
Purportedly, the Soviet military launched project ISIS in 1961 in order uncover the 'Tomb of the Visitor'. Naturally they also sought out alien artifacts and documents with the intent of reverse engineering and / or deciphering as much as they could. A sketchy, grainy video surfaced from the project which some speculate chronicles their discovery of a 13,000 year old mummified alien.

2 Bedouins are said to have found the visitors tomb. The bedouins became deathly ill after entering the tomb and had to be hospitalized. While hospitalized they told Egyptian authorities of the tombs location.
The KGB, The Soviet Unions equivalent of the CIA allegedly stumbled upon the mummified remains of this ancient alien 'visitor' in 1961. Their Project ISIS included scientists from the Soviet Academy of Sciences, egyptologists, scientists, and assorted researchers. The team was led by Sami Sharaf a confidant and close aid of Egyptian President President Gamel Abdel Nasser.
The documentary 'Secret KGB Abduction Files ' brought this theory to light. It first publicly aired in 1998. Unfortunately, it was drowned out in the white noise of massive conspiracy theories floating about. According to the documentary, there is a video which allegedly shows a small part of 'Project ISIS.'
After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the video of the secret mission was made public by a Russian intermediary who obtained it from the KGBs secret archives. It was sold via Russian Black Market sources to the Sci-Fi. SCI FI was able to obtain several documents and the film footage. Removed from the Egyptian tomb was 15 crates of relics. the sarcophogas and mummified body and hieroglypic samples.
The black and white video of the expedition shows Soviet personnel recovering what many believe is a mummy of the 'visitor', an Alien 'Astronaut' from a sarcophagus found in a tomb on the Giza plateau.
Forensic experts analyzed the video and confirmed its authenticity so far as its dating from the early 60s and being taken where it is claimed and showing Soviet personnel. However, it is impossible to confirm that the mummified remains belong to an alien. Testimonials gathered from former KGB officials seems to corroborate the story stating that the sarcophagus which was recovered by Russian military personnel, did in fact contain alien remains.
NaySayers dismiss the alien argument and suggest the body that the Soviets recovered belonged to a member of Egyptian royalty or nobility.
Russian scientist Viktor Ivanovich, had Soviet security clearances and access to top secret documents from the KGB archives obtained documents which showed that the Soviets did launch project ISIS to secure 'alien documents and technology' which were allegedly stored at the secret Giza plateau. Their aspirations were that there would be military applications it could be applied to.
'There is no doubt that a small group of Russian scientists with military experts have discovered a tomb in Egypt in 1961. But in the documents it has never been revealed exactly what was found inside the sarcophagus. The alien body that Russian military personnel found was roughly 2 meters high [about 6.5 feet tall]. Radio Carbon dating indicated put the mummies age around 13.000 years old, predating the Egyptian Dynastic period.
Cult of the 'Followers'
In a related event, a small cult of believers formed in the years after this discovery. The cult allegedly consisted of scientists and others who were convinced the ancient aliens depicted in the ancient writings would someday return. The cult believed the body was Osiris, The first Egyptian King, of the first dynasty, and a God as per Egyptian Mythology. As per ancinet alien theorists Osiris was an Alien King. The cult gave themselves the name, 'The Followers', based on the Followers of Horus, the son of Osiri from the Egyptian Book of the Dead.
Investigators discovered a videotape held for over 2 decades by Egyptian police. A five-minute clip, available on The Secret KGB UFO Abduction Files shows this cult returning to the ancient site and then completely vanishing. The film shows the group at night in front of the pyramid. A light appears in the sky, the group drops to their knees in prayer, the light brightens and they disappear. A girl left behind in Russia by her parents, who were members of this cult was shown the video by the SCI FI team, she recognized her parents and burst into tears.
The 'followers' believed that when the tombs seal was broken, a signal was sent to this alien civilization. Reportedly they calculated the time it would take for the signal to reach the aliens, supposedly in the constellation Orion. And estimated the date would be sometime after April 23, 1985. With their calculations and new found belief they departed Mother Russia for Egypt and never returned.
The only documented remnant of their existence, other than the video, is a newspaper clipping from the KGB archives telling of a group of tourists disappearing in the middle of the night in Egypt ... after April 23, 1985.
