What is 'Media Matters for America'

Media Matters for America [MMA] was excreted from the anal minds of David Brock and George Soros back in 2004. They make the effort of presenting themselves as a 'research and information center' dedicated to monitoring analyzing and correcting any information presented to the Public that is not in line with the official progressive agenda.
They monitor all conservative news and media - print, broadcast, cable, radio, and Internet sources. In many cases they dictate the content of progressive Democratic Party controlled media.
The stated purpose of Media Matters was to combat what they call 'conservative misinformation' they define conservative misinformation as news or commentary presented in the media that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda.
For decades the Left had monopolized Mass Media. Broadcasting and print media with rare exceptions were geared toward the destabilization of Civil Liberties and advancement of the progressive left wing authoritarianism. The perpetuation of the Lefts False Narrative was challenged by the arrival of a media source that challenged their distortions.
Orwellian 1984 was so close they could almost taste it - complete and absolute totalitarian control of society was sitting on their plates like a juicy sizzling steak only to be snatched as they took knife and fork in hand.
Starting in the early 90s, the right wing and conservative movement began to display an uneasiness and outright disgust with the blatant distortion and vigorous indoctrination being perpetrated by the Left. They began to produce and promote a somewhat more balanced media presentation.
Although they were far from the levels of devious expertise employed by the left , who've had decades of experience, their meager attempts to resist Big Brother did not go unnoticed. Leftist rabble rousers were in an uproar, I mean how dare anyone resist their agenda, how dare they employ the underhanded and devious tactics which the left believed to be their exclusive domain.
Americans hold the media in very low esteem, they have very little confidence in the main stream media to report ANYTHING fairly. In a 2011 Gallup poll a 60% majority reported a perception of media bias, with 47% saying that it was too liberal. Continually year after year since 2002 more Americans polled believe that the media shows brazen liberal left wing bias. [5]
The majority of America had been made to see through the facade.
The American Society of Newspaper Editors conducted a survey in 1997 to ascertain the political persuasions of media contributors, 61% of reporters stated that they were members of, or sympathized with the Democratic Party. While 15% chose the Republican Party. Bear in mind that these are 'educated' people who have been thoroughly indoctrinated by left wing academia. Presently with the rise of Fox News- which tends to slant towards the right - those numbers would probably differ somewhat.
The Daily Caller in 2012 published an expose that revealed the extent to which MMA had become engaged in dictating the content of media reports. Newspapers such as the NY Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times all took dictation from Media Matters. The Caller reported that by 2008, "Media Matters staff had the direct line of MSNBC president Phil Griffin, and used it. Griffin took their calls [and orders]' !
'We were pretty much writing [MSNBC's] prime time,... But then, virtually all the mainstream media was using our stuff stated one former Media Matters employee.' -[1]
MMA Dictates the content of many mainstream media reports
MMA Engages in underhanded mud-slinging tactics against conservatives attempting to label them as liars and racists. A brainwashing tactic known as Jamming.
MMA attempts to create the illusion that conservatives dominate the mainstream media
MMA Had regular contact and strategy sessions with political operatives within the Obama Regime [6]
MMA conspired with Attorney General Eric Holder's office in an effort to discredit and suppress news stories about scandals plaguing the Justice Department Dictates the content of many mainstream media reports. [7]
MMA released a study of guest appearances on major network shows such as ABC's This Week, CBS' Face the Nation, NBC's Meet the Press , covering the period of 1997 - 2005. The 'study' examined thousands of guests according to their political persuasion. They concluded that Right wingers were offered dramatically more opportunities to appear on the shows, thus attempting to negate the Rights claim to under representation.
What they failed to acknowledge or even consider was the fact that with extremely rare exception - the hosts were generally opinionated Liberals and leftists whose sole purpose for presenting Right wing advocates was to lambaste and attack their beliefs, some of the hosts were well known for what could be described as 'Ambush - Journalism' . Dan Rather, a disgraced so-called journalist was one of these 'un-biased hosts'.
Who is Behind Media Matters
The Clintons played a small role, Hillary claimed at one time that she had ' helped to start and support ' Media Matters, although it is uncertain if that was before or after she dodged sniper fire in Bosnia. The de-facto founder David Brock consulted with leading Democratic Party upper echelon, Hillary Clinton, Al Gore and others. He also presented his idea to potential socio-fascist funders, who promptly lined up to bankroll his cause.
George Soros was one of those financiers. Soros, as well as Media Matters for America, for years denied that Soros was the controlling force behind the organization. Media Matters, vigorously denied over the years conservative accusations of being funded by the buffoonish billionaire and political activist. However in 2010 Soros peeked out of from behind the veil and publicly dumped One Million dollars directly into their laps.
'In view of recent evidence suggesting that the incendiary rhetoric of Fox News hosts may incite violence, I have now decided to support the organization' Soros stated. Prior to 2010 Soros had never openly contributed to Media Matters but remained secretive, behind the scenes, supporting and controlling them clandestinely it is surmised. One of the largest donors to Media Matters for America is a blatantly and obnoxiously far-left capital reservoir - the Tides Foundation. Tides documents clearly demonstrate that the group gave over $4 million to Media Matters from 2004-2009 alone. Soros is one of the primary financiers of the Tides Foundation as well as other similar subversive philanthropies.
Soros controlled Open Society Foundation dumped millions of dollars into groups such as MoveOn.org, Center for American Progress, Democracy Alliance, and others ,these Soros front organizations funneled much of that money directly into Media Matters. Byron York, an investigative journalist for the Washington Examiner as well as the National Review pointed out that another Soros affiliate that financed Media Matters was the New Democratic Network.
York also suggested that the donors for MMfA suggested a strong left wing bias and an agenda that went beyond media criticism. [8]

War on Fox News
Since its inception Media Matters for America has incessantly hounded and scrutinized Fox News. Its hoard of paid staffers scrutinizes every aspect of the network. Its corporate officers, hosts, guests, curriculum, financial dealings and so forth. Should Fox fail to dot an i or cross a T Media Matters mongrels salaciously await the opportunity to pounce, and pounce they do. No other mainstream media outlet has ever had to endure the relentless assaults and vindictive attacks endured by Fox.
Media Matters Executive Vice President Angelo Carusone declared in December 2013 The war on Fox is over...And it's not just that it's over, but it was very successful. To a large extent, we won. However what Carusone failed to acknowledge is that Fox News ratings are very strong, in fact stronger than its two primary rivals combined.

Fox News beat "friends and family," NPR, President Obama, and every rival news network. As recently as last month, Fox News absolutely crushed CNN and MSNBC in the ratings. In both total viewers and the all-important 25-54 age demo, Fox News beat both of them combined. Moreover, out of over 100 channels, Fox News is #2 in all of cable..... 'According to its strategic plan for the next three years, a copy of which was provided to The Huffington Post, Media Matters envisions shifting its focus to new, increasingly influential targets, including Spanish-language media, social media streams, alternative online outlets and morning and entertainment sources. It will enhance its state media and issue-based monitoring, as well as continue its focus on right-wing radio and legacy outlets.' [3]
Juan Williams has been a contributor to many varied Media Outlets, including Fortune, Ebony magazine, The New Republic, The Atlantic Monthly, TIME , Gentlemens Quarterly and appears on a number of television programs - Nightline, The Oprah Winfrey Show and others. He is a man with a mind of his own, indebted to neither Right nor Left. He is however a journalist, not a propagandist unlike many of his colleagues.
Williams was fired by NPR News following politically incorrect comments he made on the Fox News The O'Reilly Factor.
'Look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous. ..... Christians shouldn't be blamed for Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.'
Williams in 2011 spoke out on Media Matters attacks on Fox - '...They are digging up dirt on people. They are trying to ruin peoples lives and reputation because they disagree with their politics. And, in specific here, what they disagree with is conservative politics and they really dont like Fox News. So they are going after everybody associated with Fox News including the likes of me...' May 2024 Laid Off Media Matters Staffers Offered the Chance to 'Learn to Code'
At least a dozen staffers at the left-wing character assassination outlet Media Matters for America were laid off today. Ordinarily, you could feel sorry for market forces putting people out of work, but that doesn't apply in this case. There probably haven't been this many deserving people at the unemployment office since the last left-wing media outlet failed.
No one is talking about why the staffers were sent off to learn to code, but there is a strong suspicion that it is linked to a civil suit filed by tech billionaire Elon Musk. Media Matters went after advertisers on "X," the platform formerly known as Twitter, based on provably false claims that ads were running side-by-side with racist and otherwise undesirable posts. The point of the attack was clear. Media Matters was trying to create facts that would hurt Musk's company. RedState
